The Board of the Wellington Youth Orchestras is pleased to announce the appointment of Music Directors:

The Wellington Youth Orchestras Inc provides governance for the two Wellington-based symphonic youth orchestras.

Currently there is the Wellington Youth Orchestra (WYO) which was set up in 1959 by ‘the good fathers’ of the Wellington City Council. The second orchestra is the training orchestra for the WYO, known as the Wellington Youth Sinfonietta (WYS). It will celebrate 20 years in 2012.


Wellington Youth Orchestra performed its last concert for 2011 on Monday 3 October at Wellington Town Hall.  The programme was:

Verdi: ”La Forza Del Destino”
Ravel:
Piano Concerto in G with soloist Asaph Verner
Rimsky Korsakov:
Capriccio Espagnol
Respighi: Pines of Rome with Wellington Pelorus Brass Band
